Half day tours with polyglot guides, in discovery of the loveliest treasures of the Riviera del Brenta, the many villas, ancient summer homes of the Venetian nobility. Meet the guide at Fusina Terminal (for visitors staying in Venice the Fusina Terminal can be reached from Zattere on the public line). The first stop is scheduled at Malcontenta to admire the exterior of villa Foscari, a classical example of the Palladian villa. The tour proceeds along the canal past the Boathouse of Villa Valmarana, a structure from the 17th century frescoed by M. Schiavoni, an artist of Tiepolo's school, and reaches the picturesque town of Dolo. Time out for a stroll around the ancient Mills (built in the 16th century) and the famous old Squero. Past Dolo proceeding toward Padua, we come to Strà where Villa Foscarini Rossi is located. This 18th century mansion now houses a museum. Nearby is the monumental national museum of Villa Pisani, a perfect example of the noble palace on the mainland, built by Alvise Pisani to glorify the ascent of the family to the highest honor of Venetian politics. Time is allowed for an optional tour of the villa. To fully grasp the most impressive corners of the Riviera del Brenta it will be interesting to visit the farm museum at Villa Badoer Fattoretto, and Villa Tito with the characteristic oratory. The tour returns by way of the ancient "low" road along the river. |
